Well, it’s going to get worse before it levels off. Getting better or fixed is unlikely because the Powers That Be are doing well enough the way things are going. After all, the heart of capitalism is society or the world being weakened or, in a manner of speaking, enshittified so a small elite can profit and prosper. And they pay *our* elected officials (or whatever) good money to deliver.
Meanwhile, one of the Splitsville nations is descended from the Founding Fathers and their upsetedness over that taxation without representation thing which was actually a bill for additional security necessitated then provided to protect the colonists from the effects as it were from provoking various indigenous peoples. So you know all the psychopathic hate of the fine, patriotic MAGA people is our heritage.
Which is to say I found this week’s post a little too kind maybe.

The mindset of these people is interesting, where by "interesting" I mean "terrifying." I always wonder where dictatorships get the guys willing to shoot defenseless people in the head (look at Iran, for example) but Us vs. Them is such a powerful thing, and once you're on the team with all your buddies, the "Them" isn't even human and deserves whatever you are allowed to deliver.
Years ago, when global-justice protests like the Battle for Seattle were the thing, one cop union put out a t-shirt with a line drawing of club-wielding cops under the slogan "We get up early to beat the crowds." Ha ha, sure shows what happens to you once you're One Of The Boys.
And, of course, these organizations (cops; ICE) select for certain types--bullies, sadists, racists, etc. It's not as though they start with a random sampling of the population who then, somehow, go bad.
That too. But as Ross is the poster boy for, training of cops across the board focuses on making them yet more fucked up and shittier as cops.
As we likely have forgotten already, Ross was allegedly traumatized or something from trying to taze a perp while the perp was driving a moving vehicle and Ross (while tazing) was hanging out the window.
I thought Ross was a trainer of ICE, not cops. At this point ICE makes normal city cops look like Eliot Ness's Untouchables. And, as many have asked, if Ross was so traumatized by that event (which is entirely plausible), what the fuck was he doing out in the field?
I didn’t say he was any sort of trainer. I was dissing the training.
But sooo many cops are trained to be more psycho or at least irresponsible than they’d be normally.
